Remote turns heat up but will not turn fire down or off

This Remote control gas fire unit arrived safely and on testing the handset was found to not transmit a signa ion the down channel.

This was due to a faulty 40Khz crystal a replacement was fitted which restored full functionality.  

No fault was found with the receiver.
