Customer's Fault Description
Down control button on handset not working
Works great turning fire up but not down.
Tried batteries but still not turning fire down.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Gas fire remote control and driver unit arrived safely from Newcastle and on testing the handset itself was not transmitting on the down channel. This was ue to a faulty 40khz crystal.
The crystal in the remote control was replaced which restored full functionality.
No fault was found with the receiver BUT it does have signs of a battery leak, we therefore must notify that the best course of action is to have the receiver replaced as soon as possible (even though it is currently working). The reason for this is that the receiver can develop such faults as missing channels and more importantly it can turn the heater on without intervention.
