Changed the batteries, and it now appears to be dead.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Extractor fan remote control arrived safely and on testing the top 2 buttons were found to be non responsive.  

This was due to contaminated button contacts, these were cleaned using switch cleaner which restored full functionality.
