Dru Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : Dru
Customers Fault Description : Metal connection to one of the battery points has snapped. You have previously welded this before but it has come apart again when changing battery. All other buttons etc are intact and working.
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This Intergrated gas fire remote control arrived safely and on inspection was confirmed to have a damaged battery terminal.
There was signs of rust on the terminal and also spots of liquid inside the remote which is an indication of a battery leak.
The terminal was replaced which restored functionality, the display seems to have a few missing digits which is most likely due to the acid contamination (see image showing this contamination right next to the displays edge connector)
Unfortunately, we cannot repair the display digits as spare edge connectors / displays are not available as spares. We did clean the connections and hot glue it into position which seems to have made a slight difference but it's not perfect.
Due to the display issue, we are not charging for a repair in this instance even though the remote will still be usable.
It is extremely important to change the batteries every yeah regardless if they need replacing as battery leaks will continue to happen if left over time.
