Customer's Fault Description
I have a problem to reset remote control. Manual says: To RESET, put the remote control into the Charging Cradle with "SOURCE" key pressed. When you release the SOURCE key, “RESETS” appears in the display beside a key. The remote control can now be removed from the Charging Cradle. After you briefly press the SOURCE key, the display shows "press any key". After pressing a key, the initialization process starts and, after a short time, all attached devices should be represented in the remote control display, on the "top level menu". All goes in line with manual recommendation, but on step "press any key" it show error message and initialization process is not started. This issue appeared after batteries change, therefore I suggest I didn't changed it in a proper way. Hope you can find a root cause and repair it.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote arrived and on inspection there was a hole in the side of the case and cracks along the back case, one battery had fallen out of the hole as well as a couple of small screws.

The case would not fit together as the mounting screw holes are broken with some screws being missing.

On opening one of the internal batteries was found to have broken away from the PCB at one end and was touching the pins of one of the main ICs.

The batteries were all soldered firmly into place and then when testing the remote powers up and asks for the source.  When pressed the message no reply please try again appears on screen.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a software / setup issue which is not something we can repair.

The customer is to test the remote on return in case it works in situe now that the batteries are fitted correctly.
