Mertik Maxitrol Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : Mertik Maxitrol
Customers Fault Description : All the buttons work but I have to open the flap at the front of the fire to expose the electrics to activate the pilot, I can’t do it from the other side of the room like I used to, I have to get right up close to the fire to make the mechanism work to light the pilot. Same thing when I press the ‘off’ button. It’s like the signal from the remote is not strong enough to connect with the fire unless it’s up really close. Fire lights ok when I turn it on and goes off ok. Hope this is enough detail
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This Remote Control for a classic II Quattro multi glow pebble fire arrived safely and on testing was found to be transmitting as per normal operation with a strong IR signal being present on each button press.
The remote was opened to check for possible defects but no problem could be replicated.
This item has been classed as no fault found and it is possible that the issue is with the receiving diode / receiver itself. (Please ensure to change the batteries in the receiver AND remote on return for quality batteries to eliminate that as an issue)
This remote is Infra red meaning it needs a line of sight for proper functionality, therefore check that the receiving diode in the fire is not obstructed / dirty.
