Remote damaged on dropping , 9v terminal temporary fix , but engineer suspects possible circuit board as light on remote is on when pushing button

This Kinder Gas Fire remote control arrived safely and on inspection was found to have a damaged battery cable and sluggish buttons.  The battery cable and all 4 buttons were replaced and then the remote tested as ok.
