Customer's Fault Description
MOSTLY DOES NOT WORK, OR SIMPLY PUTS A85 INTO RADIO MODE WHEN PRESSING ANY BUTTON. OCCASIONALLY, IT DOES WORK BUT NOT OFTEN.
BATTERY TERMINALS WERE CORRODED FROM LONG TERM STORAGE BUT CLEANED AS FAR AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT DISMANTLING.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Kenwood controller arrived safely and on inspection was found to have signs of a battery leak in the battery compartment and also the AB select switch doesn't seem to latch.
On testing the control was found to be transmitting without any button being pressed.
The control was opened and the PCB / button array checked for shorts but unfortunately non could be found it was then concluded that the issue was with the main IC itself (possibly surged when the battery leak occurred). This IC is not available as a spare and a repair is not possible.
