Customer's Fault Description
The problem is the volume buttons - the '+' button no longer functions at all, and the '-' button only functions after a few seconds if you press it very firmly. (The '+' button was like this for a while, but now doesn't do anything). All the other remote buttons work fine - the volume controls seem to have simply worn out through all the use they've gotten.
This Yamaha audio video receiver control arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to not be operating on the volume buttons, all other buttons were operable.
When opened the PCB and button array had signs of liquid contamination on the corresponding volume zones (see image). The PCB was given a alcohol bath and the rubber keypad was washed to remove all contaminants and full functionality was restored.
