Customer's Fault Description
The remote does not transmit correctly to the receiver plus the receiver did not trigger the gas fire valve to open or close when we tried another (friend’s) Mertik similar remote with it. We know that the gas valve is ok as when we connected our friend’s receiver/remote the valve opened and closed as normal.

 

This remote and receiver arrived safely and on inspection the remote was missing its battery cover.

On adding a power source the remote itself was intermittent, this was found to be a faulty battery clip / cable.

 The receiver has signs of a severe battery leakage which has started to corroed the terminals.  Unfortunately this corrosion has traversed onto the main PCB and started to corrode parts of the track.

The battery block was bypassed for testing purposes and the receiver did power up but another issue was present whereby the item would only respond on one channel.

The crystals were replaced but this had no effect and therefore its been concluded that the corrosion is too severe. 

Due to the number of issues a repair is not possible and replacements would be the best option.
