Remote did seem to work erratically needing batteries changed very often however within a day it would send errant signals to the unit to turn it off or on and wouldn't respond to any buttons pressed until it's batteries had been changed. The frequency of battery changes that could get it to work somewhat predictably went up and up until it wouldn't respond at all.

The remote does not transmit correctly to the receiver plus the receiver did not trigger the gas fire valve to open or close when we tried another (friend’s) Mertik similar remote with it. We know that the gas valve is ok as when we connected our friend’s receiver/remote the valve opened and closed as normal.

At the end of last winter I noted that the pilot light on the fire was not switching off as it should do. Not wanting to have the pilot light burning all summer, I switched off the gas supply. I have now switched on the gas supply but the pilot light will not ignite when I operate the controller. I have tried re-setting but to no avail, it makes all the noises but nothing happens.

Both pressure pads worked whilst controls apart. Once rebuilt not working. Done several times with similar effects. Now 1 component appears to have burnt out.
