Manufacturer : Merrill Maxitrol
Model : G30 - ZRHT
Customers Fault Description : thankfully the pilot light was not on. woke up to the noise of the remote control sending a signal to the fire to turn off(continuous clicking sound) removed the battery to stop it but later in the day re inserted battery now all it does is display the digital clock just spinning non stop through the hours and none of the buttons work. while fiddling with the battery i snapped the negative connection. also note that the remote was set to manual, i never use the auto function
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This fireplace control and receiver arrived safely and on testing the remote was found to have erratic display functions.
When opened there was a mass of sticky liquid over much of the PCB and also the display edge connectors, this was all cleaned up but sadly the issues remained. It would appear that the liquid has corroded the contacts to the display itself as well as shorted out various pins of the main ic.
Sadly this has meant that the remote is beyond repair and a replacement is the best option.
