Cannot get remote to turn the fire on. No buttons appear to work.

This electric fire controller arrived safely (the package was not sealed properly buy luckily Royal Mail had resealed it in a plastic bag to protect the contents)

On testing the remote was found to be transmitting on every button as per normal.  One of the battery terminals was out of its holder so was reset into the correct position but this wasn't causing a fault and therefore is not a chargeable fix.  Only the return postage is required.
