The remote still works to switch the fan on but the "off" button and the "light" button do not respond.

 This ceiling fan control arrived safely and on testing many of the buttons were sluggish / non responsive.

This was due to worn button contacts.  Replacement conductive pads were fitted which restored full functionality.
