Customers Fault Description : The light does not come on on the remove, in spite of having inserted a new battery

This Portway fireplace controller arrived safely and on inspection the battery cable was broken, this was replaced and when tested the buttons were found to be intermittent.
All four buttons were also replaced which restored full functionality.
