This stereo receiver remote arrived safely and on testing was dead.

The screen would have a strange black border and no characters

On opening there was some corrosion on the print see images, this was from a battery leak.  This was cleaned up but the problem persisted.

It was found that the issue was the screen itself, a replacement was fitted which restored normal functionality.
