Sony RM-LP205 and RMT-D248P Remote Control Repair

These three remotes arrived safely - below is a breakdown of the 3 -

Remote Control 1 - Sony RM-LP205
This control was confirmed to have a cracked screen facia and case. A replacement case was fitted (this is from scrapped control and not brand new as new cases are not available as spares), please note that hte case fitted if for a RM-LJ302 which is identical except for the button labeling for the 6.1 ch Encoding which on the replacement is labeled Bass Boost and some of the button inside the flap.  The original case will be returned with the package so the customer can compare the button labeling.

Remote Control 2 - Sony RMT-D248P 

On inspection this control had signs of an attempted opening prior to arrival, spare cases are not available and we do not have a scrap one in stock to swap out. 

On testing this control was found to be dead.  On opening there were 2 corrosion spots on the PCB )see images), these were cleaned up but the dead issue remained.  A small chip in the print was eventually found which was causing an open circuit.  The print was reworked using conductive paint which restored full functionality.

Some buttons were sluggish / unresponsive. This was rectified by cleaning the button pads and PCB.

Remote Control 3 - SKY 

This remote was found to rattle when shook and the screws used to hold the remote shut were not original meaning it had been opened before prior to arrival.

On opening the rattle was found to be due to a detached capacitor (see images) and there were various cracks through the PCB.  Due to the amount of damage a repair is not possible but a quick google search has found that the sky replacement remotes can be obtained for far less than out fixed £20 repair cost making a repair not viable.

The payment below is for the 2 Sony repairs (£20 per remote) plus £6 postage - £46 in total.

I will also ship a spare sky remote that i have laying around for free.
