Sony RM-LJ304 Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Sony

Model : RM-LJ304

Customers Fault Description : I had tried to repair the remote myself with a cheap soldering iron but started to make things worse. The problem was initially corrosion from old batteries. This has cleaned up well. The remote powers on normally, controls the receiver unit and generally works. However, the remote flashes a low-battery warning even with fresh batteries. The backlight does not come on. The unit also has a small battery on the PCB that I cannot confirm for myself is good or not. The remote functions include receiving IR commands/info that are stored in the remote. I have not confirmed this functionality either. You have a similar repair for this model on your website.

Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :

This Sony control arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to have a bad battery symbol on screen and also no backlight was present.

On opening there was corrosion on a few components (see image), this is part of the regulator circuit.  All effected components were replaced which restored full functionality.  The back up button cell battery was also found to have a cut lead.  The cell was replaced.
