While it features a thin, minimalist design, it is a multi-component remote capable of controlling other Krell gear (like CD players) in addition to the amplifier.
For the KAV-400xi, it duplicates the front panel's core functions—including power, source selection, mute, and volume—but it also adds a balance control, which is not accessible from the amplifier's own faceplate. To operate the amplifier, the "Pre" button must be selected first to ensure the remote is sending commands to the correct device.
