Built into a solid, sculpted wooden body with an elegant brushed-aluminum front faceplate, it is designed to manage Unison Research amplifiers, preamplifiers, and CD players (such as the Unico series). The front interface houses a dense grid of 21 tactile black push buttons, providing a full 0–9 numeric keypad, media transport keys (Play/Pause, Stop, Track Skip), master Volume controls, and specialized system functions like Filter and Sel. The handset features an enclosed infrared transmitter lens and is powered by a single 3V CR2032 coin cell battery, which is accessed by removing the faceplate from the solid wood housing.
