The remote was in storage for 7 years with batteries installed, so they leaked and corroded the connectors. When removing the batteries, one of the springs broke. It need to be cleaned thoroughly and the spring connector need to be replaced.

Began as an intermittent fault. Remote will not always turn on. Sometimes after multiple attempts it will turn on but if it does it shorts out very quickly. The little red light comes on but goes off quickly. I have already replaced the battery, connector and wires.
